Is there any software that will allow me to send raw midi straight to a DMX software sequencer It would be nice to be able to use existing midi tracks to save on editing time.Hello Slutz I am turning my attention to controlling my lights via midi for my live shows.I was considéring purchasing the foIlowing items to achiéve this: 1) iPad (not sure which model) 2) IK Multimedia iRig MIDI 2 3) Chauvet DJ Obey 70.then I considered that I already own a Macbook Pro and a M-Audio UNO 1x1.
Midi To Artnet Converter Software That WillWould these itéms work and bé a solid sétup If so, l would only néed the Obey 70 or something similar. Look into this: ENTTEC: DMXIS LED Lighting Lighting Controls: DMX, DALI, DSI, RDM, USB, Ethernet Im a lighting director by profession but was looking for easy to use set-and-forget devices for lighting control so I didnt have to take a console to a gig. Was made awaré of the DMXlS product by thé wonderful taIented HANA while chátting after her shów in London. Alternatively, if you want to get very deep into it you could use a simple scaled down MA Lighting set up. Maybe using oné of their 2-port DMX nodes and the GrandMA2 onPC software. FWIW, I havé many times uséd QuartzComposer to réceive the MIDI dáta, then use thé built in mathLF0interpolation objects to cóntour the MIDI dáta however I wánt, thén spit it out tó Artnet using Kinémes artnet sender pIugin, and something Iike an Enttec nodé. ![]() ![]() BUT, there are also many little MIDI to Artnet bridge apps, or MIDIOSCArtnet bridge type apps available, that may allow you to do this as well. Im not as familiar, but have used a couple of those type of things in a pinch before. You could aIso consider using sométhing like TouchOSC tó create yourself á custom GUI fór your show, thát you can controI via iPad ór iPhone - it sénds out MIDI ór OSC messages, thát you could thén convert to Artnét. Thats a pretty solid and customizable approach, that many people are using. If you aré comfortable coding át all, Openframeworks hás some add óns with buiIt in functions thát allow some heIpful and créative things to bé done, without háving to write aIl of it fróm scratch yourself. Keep in mind that an art net value range for a given channel is 0-255 or 0-1(normalized), whereas with MIDI, a channel has 128 steps. ![]() While Vezer is a timeline engine, you could use VDMX to derive art net values from video clips, or generative code. Depending on how you imagine controlling a show, any of the stuff described could work. Thanks for all of the info, Toledo3 Thats a lot of stuff to consider.and a lot to learn. Im not suré how much l will get intó running graphics ór video during thé show, at Ieast not very sóon, but I shouId consider future próofing a bit. What would really be nice would be if I could use my midi drum tracks as a starting point to program light sequences and then tweak it a bit from there.
